Thomas Earl Fleischer

On November 23, 2016 Thomas Earl Fleischer lost his battle against recurrent head and neck cancer.  He was 60 years old.

Born June 7, 1956 at Daniel Freeman Memorial Hospital to Shirley Ann and William Thomas Fleischer.  He has two younger sisters, Deidre Gail (now Yullan Valor) and Colleen Elizabeth (now Colleen Elizabeth Fleischer Cannova).

Tom grew up in Redondo Beach, California, where he attended and graduated Aviation High School.  Tom was a member of Boy Scout Troop 791 where he achieved the rank of Eagle.   Tom was into photography, astronomy, wood carving, building models, wooden structures, and things that flew.

After high school Tom attended UCLA and majored in Mechanical Engineering.  While attending UCLA Tom became a member of and later president of the Engineering Society of the University of California.  Tom worked as a summer intern at Mattel Toys starting out in the Hot Wheels Group designing the Porsche 924 and Lotus Espirit.

After graduating UCLA in 1979 Tom took a job with Ebasco Services in Newport Beach, California.  After working for about 2 years at the Newport Beach location, Ebasco sent Tom to Louisiana to support the Construction and start-up activities at Waterford 3.  It was there he met his wife Rose.  Rose and Tom were married in April 1983.  Child #1, Ryan, came in 1985 and child #2, Kristen, came in 1987.  In 1987 the family moved to Hixson, Tennessee.   Child #3, William, came in 1989.

By 1992, engineering contracting opportunities at nuclear facilities was starting to dry up.  The family ended up moving from Tennessee to Pennsylvania, back to Tennessee, then to Texas, then New Jersey.  By mid 1997 the family had enough of all the moving, so Tom decided to work direct for Entergy at Waterford 3.  So the family moved back to Louisiana.

Tom is survived by his wife, Rose and his children Ryan, Kristen, and William, and his two grandchildren, Carmine and Kaitlyn.
