Ronald Pierre Gourgeot Sr. was born to Maxime Gourgeot and Mildred Gourgeot on Thursday, June 1st,1944 in New Orleans, Louisiana.  He was a long time resident of Belle Chasse and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church Hammond.  Ronald was called home to the Lord on Wednesday, June 16th, 2021 from his current residence in Madisonville, Louisiana.

After graduating high school, Ronald joined the United States Navy and proudly served active duty for 9.5 years and after serving in the inactive reserves, he was Honorably Discharged in 1982.  He went on to open his own mechanic shop from 1982 to 1985.  From 1985 to 1994 he worked as an insurance agent with Union National and American General.  He left there for a maintenance position with the Louisiana State school from 1994 to 2006.  He ultimately retired from the New Orleans Recovery School District in 2011.

Ronald had a large heart for family, friends, and especially for helping those who could no longer help themselves.  He is infamously (legend in his own mind as he would say) known to crack a joke to anyone, anywhere, and anyhow to see what their reaction would be.  He simply had a way of getting along with anyone and bringing a smile to their face.  He was an extremely hard worker and generously provided for his wife, children, and grand-children.

Ronald is survived by his wife of 42 years Lorinda Girard Gourgeot, his sons Ronald (Michelle) Gourgeot Jr., Ryan (Sara) Gourgeot Sr., and Russell (Kelly) Gourgeot.  His brother Denis (Rose) Gourgeot.  His sister-in-law Kathy (Rolly) Bruce and brother-in-law Paul (Phillis) Girard.  His grand-children; Brenna Gourgeot, Maria Gourgeot, Claire Gourgeot, Anna Gourgeot, Ronald Gourgeot III, Ryan Gourgeot  Jr., Isabella Gourgeot, Madelynn Gourgeot, Olivia Gourgeot, and his great-granddaughter Sierra Ladner.  Including many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents Maxime Gourgeot and Mildred Rosiere Gourgeot. His brothers Lucian Gourgeot, Milton Gourgeot, and Max Gourgeot.  His daughter Wendy Gourgeot and grand-daughter Brooke Weiskopf.
