Ronald Earl Sanders, age 71 of Ponchatoula, LA, passed away March 9, 2022, after an extended illness surrounded by his loving family. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, March 13, 2022 at 2:00 pm at McKneely Funeral Home in Hammond, LA. Johnny King, cousin, will be officiating the service. Family will receive visitors from 12:30 pm until time of service.
Ronnie entered this life on August 8, 1950 in Clinton LA to the late Earl Henry Sanders and Marie Russell Sanders. Survivors include his beloved and devoted wife, of 36 years, Maureen Grassman Sanders; children Shelley Marie Sanders Iannizzotto (Paul), Ann Alyce Sanders Mooney (Tim), and Russell Gabriel Sanders. Ronnie also leaves behind 4 grandchildren; Jordan Lemoine, TJ Mooney, Katelyn Wright and Gabriel Sanders as well as 4 great grandchildren; Slayden Bravender, Syrus Keenan, Vivian Mooney and Dallas Mooney. He is also survived by his sister, Rhonda Marcotte and his Aunt, Jerry King as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ronnie was a military veteran of the United States Army at the rank of Private First Class. He served in Vietnam from 1969-1970. He was past commander of the local chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Jackson, LA. After working many years in law enforcement, he went on to work at Ascension Ready Mix. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and watching Westerns but his favorite pastime was anytime he could spend with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was a devoted husband to his loving wife and they were rarely apart.
