Robert "Bob" J. Zayak, 78 of Independence, Louisiana, passed away at home with his family by his side on Sunday, August 21, 2016. He was born on July 25, 1938 in Monaca, Pennsylvania to John and Bernadette Zayak, Jr. Bob enjoyed life and loved NASCAR, hunting, collecting junk but especially loved spending time with his family. Bob never met a stranger and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Dorothy Bergeron Zayak, his daughters, Robin Joiner and her husband David and Roxann McHodgkins and her husband Jim, his son, Randy Zayak and his wife Cindy, his grandchildren, Kyle Joiner and his wife Amanda, Samantha Zayak, Dylan Joiner, Catlin and Cody McHodgkins, also many nieces, nephews and close friends. He is preceded in death by parents, John and Bernadette Zayak, brothers, Richard and Sonny Zayak and sister, Eleanor Zajac. A Visitation for Bob will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2016 from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond. A Funeral Service Celebrating Bob's life will immediatly follow visitation at 1:00pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in the Durbin Cemetery in Independence.
