Richard “Tank” Yager

Richard “Tank” Yager, age 63, peacefully passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Richard Murphy Hospice House after a courageous battle with cancer.  He attended St Joseph School, Ponchatoula High School and earned his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from ULL.  He went on to retire after 30 plus years from the Department of Children and Family Services.  

Richard had a loving, kind and generous spirit.  He was always the life of the party and enjoyed living in the moment.  He loved football, hunting, fishing, cooking and hanging out with his friends.  Tank was a member of Theta Xi Fraternity and other local civic organizations.

He leaves behind his family, Travis Navarre (Sue), Adley Navarre Jr. (Yvonne), Patsy Navarre, Myra Navarre Gaudin, George Navarre (Kim); as well as numerous cousins, extended family and countless friends.

Preceding Richard in death was his mother, Mary Lou Navarre; grandparents, Adley Navarre Sr. and Mary Boudreaux Navarre; and many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

Family and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service on April 1st, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula, with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m.  Interment will follow in Ponchatoula Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Richard Murphy Hospice House, 1109 S Chestnut St, Hammond, LA 70403.
