Richard Edmund Schiffler, age 68, born January 14, 1954, died peacefully in his sleep on Monday, August 1, 2022 at his home in Albany, Louisiana.
Richard lived a rich and colorful life, including his time in Vietnam where he served in the U. S. Army.
Richard is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Audrey Agnes Liles Schiffler; mother-in-law, Lois Guillory Graziano; brother-in-law, Ray Notariano; and sisters- in-law, Frances Mackey, and Kathi Higgins.
Richard is survived by his wife of 30 years, Deborah Lynn Effler Schiffler; and their children, Jay Locicero and his wife Brenda, Jeremy Locicero and his wife Karmen, Emily LaFontaine and her husband Brandon, and Matthew and his wife Mandi. He loved and enjoyed his grandchildren, Kaleb, Damien, Karly, Jaydin, Tristan, Kane, Elja, Raelynn, and Julien.
Richard is also survived by his sisters and their families; Theresa Notariano and her sons, Chad and Kelly, Denise Melancon and her husband Ronnie and their children, Wesley and Stephanie, and Donna Peltier and her sons, Jeremy, Todd, and Chris. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Darlene Hughes and her children, Adam and Angelina; and his brothers-in-law, Michael Graziano and his wife Danielle and their son, Carlon, and Don Mackey and his children, Rachael, Jennifer, and Lindsey, and Kathi’s children, Brandon and Haley.
Richard was a quiet man with a gruff exterior whose soft heart loved and was loved by his family and friends.
