Marie Baham Vaucourt passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at home with family in Florence, Alabama, at the age of 86. She was born Friday, November 23, 1934, in Luneville, France, to Henriette Conot and Fernand Vaucourt. She was a resident of Uneedus, Louisiana.

As a child in war torn, German-occupied France, Marie was loved, cared for and survived with her beloved Grandpere and Grandmere Vaucourt. As a young woman, Marie worked for the French IRS while also being very interested in geography and cartography (a lifelong hobby). After marrying Wilfred “Red” Baham (an Army GI and Warrant Officer from Louisiana), she became a naturalized citizen of this United States of America and lived in multiple states and countries while being an Army wife for 21 years and raising her 4 children. She worked a variety of jobs but chose nursing as her main career, becoming an exemplary LPN for 30 years and caring for clients at Hood Memorial Hospital and Hammond Nursing Home before retiring. She always had a caring, soft, warm touch and a beautiful smile for everyone she met and was the best “MomoRee” a grandbaby could ever have. Marie enjoyed a good crossword puzzle and made an awesome gumbo. She loved Clint Eastwood westerns and Jeopardy. And she loved each of her family and friends with her whole heart and will be missed dearly.

Marie is survived by her daughters, Vivian Baham Maklary and Valerie Baham; son, Steve Baham; and grandchildren: Nicole Maklary, Jamey Robertson, James Kane II and Timothy Kane, Saylor Baham and Jackson Baham; great-grandchildren: Dayne, Ava, and Evelyn Robertson, and Dahlia and Declan Kane; by her sister, Elisabeth and brother-in-law, Hoe Nguyen and their children Bertrand, Larent and Corinne; and her brother, Rene and sister-in-law Cecile Vaucourt. And distant family members and friends. And lastly by her cat Ron-Ron, her faithful companion.

She was preceded in death by her father, Fernand Vaucourt, and mother, Henriette Conot; her infant daughter, Barbara Baham; her son, Jack Roy Baham, her sister, Suzanne Vaucourt; her grandson, Michael Brandon Maklary; her prior husband, Wilfred “Red” Baham. And her most faithful doggie, Poochie.
