Our beautiful mother, Lourdes Brindisi, 62, of Tickfaw, passed away January 23, 2023. She was born in Brooklyn, New York to the late William Mendez and Herminia Mendez on September 29, 1960.

Lourdes attended John Jay College of Criminal Justice in the 1980s and wore many hats during her professional career. The best one, she would tell you, was being a stay at home mother while her children were little.

Lourdes was a devoted mother first and foremost. She cherished her children and embraced every moment with them. She adored her grandchildren and especially loved being called “Abuela.” Lourdes had an overwhelming zest for life; you could always count on her to brighten your day with her many words of wisdom and her infectious laugh. Her lively and vivacious spirit made it easy for her to make friends everywhere she went. She was a kind, loving, compassionate person who always tried to see the absolute best in people.

One of Lourdes’ favorite past times was cooking. She was a fantastic cook and loved preparing meals for her family and friends, especially over the holidays. She was a dedicated Saints football fan and you could always count on hearing her scream at the television “Come on, Saints! Run the ball!”

Lourdes was predeceased by her loving parents, William and Herminia. Lourdes is survived by her brother, William Mendez, her former spouse, Frank Brindisi, her son Anthony Brindisi, her two daughters, Angelica Wild (Kevin) and Bianca Brindisi (Ozzy), and her niece Eseny Mendez. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Natalie Wild, Leo Wild, and Dominic Laporte.

As our mother would say after every phone call or every text message, “I love you more.” We love you more, Mom.
