Kevin Powers

Kevin peacefully passed away on November 24, 2021 at the age of 69.  He was born in Illinois but eventually became a permanent resident of Ponchatoula after he fell in love with the swamps and bayous of Louisiana.  Kevin was a retired Pipefitter/Welder, who was known as the best in the state, and even held multiple positions in the Pipefitters Union through the years.  He was an avid collector of different types of guns, knives and fishing poles.  As a perfectionist as Kevin was, when he was passionate about something he never went in less than 110%.  He was a self-taught drummer, who had created his very own sound system for the best quality sound experience around.  Kevin was known to be a private person, but also enjoyed spending time with his family at family get-togethers and loved to bring his own smoked meat to add to any function.  When he wasn’t with his family, he could often be found on his boat fishing or keeping his mind and body fit at the gym.  Kevin will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He leaves behind his son, Nick Hackney and wife Katie; grandchildren, Lola and Trigg; brother, Tommy Powers; cousins, Tommy and Harry J. Morel Jr., Jo Ann Hewing, Colleen Sands, William Ditewig, Tommy Ditewig, Kate Ditewig-Morris and Jeannie Ditewig; as well as extended family.

Preceding Kevin in death are his parents: Edmund Powers andJoAnn Finnegan.
