James “Floyd” DePriest passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, in Hammond, Louisiana, at the age of 87.  He was born on April 7, 1934 in Natalbany, Louisiana to the late Virginia Albin DePriest and the late Dewey DePriest.  He was a resident of Hammond, Louisiana.

Floyd is survived by his wife, Barbara Bankston DePriest; his children, Lee Ann DePriest (Peter), Anita DePriest Garon (David), Scot DePriest, and Beth DePriest Mund (Andrew); grandchildren, Cliff Yee, Kyle Yee, Lindsay Garon Gilbert, Joseph Garon, Ginger DePriest, Libby DePriest, and Aubrey Mund; great-grandchildren, Conner Yee and Ryan Brandenburg; and siblings, Sarah Elizabeth Wilder and Vera DePriest.

In addition to his parents, Floyd is also preceded in death by his siblings, Phillip DePriest, Carolyn Kinchen, Allie "Al" DePriest, and Wallace DePriest.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home in Hammond, 2000 N Morrison Boulevard, Hammond, Louisiana 70401, on Monday, May 10, 2021 beginning at 11:00 AM until the funeral service begins at 1:00 PM.  

Interment will follow in New Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery, Hammond, Louisiana.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in honor of Floyd's wife, Barbara, to the Alzheimer's Association, either over the phone or online at www.alz.org.
