Doris Jean Woolsey Ellison, 88, of Ponchatoula, LA passed away November 22, 2021 in Hammond, LA.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am and the funeral service will beheld at 11:00 am November 27, 2021 at 1st Baptist Church of Ponchatoula 325 E. Pine St, Ponchatoula, LA. With Rev David Cranford of 1st Baptist Church, officiating.
Doris was born in Millerton, OK to Lawrence Woolsey and Mabel Hendricks Woolsey on August 23rd 1933. She married Louis Alfred Ellison on May 16, 1953 in Abilene, TX. She worked as a realtor with Era Realtors and then with Latter and Blum before she retired in 1997. She accumulated several awards over the years as well as lifelong friends. She enjoyed bowling on her women’s league with her friends.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents Mabel Hendricks Woolsey and Lawrence Woolsey, and her brothers Archie Woolsey, Roy Woolsey, A.C. Woolsey and her sister Hazel Woolsey and great-grand daughter Amelia Grace Broussard. Doris is survived by her husband Louis Alfred Ellison, her daughters Cheryl Ellison Broussard (Greg), Sandra Ellison Dupree (Bud), her son Kyle Ellison (Adriane)and her sister Shirley Woolsey Dodd.
She has 7 grandchildren, Joe Dupree (Kempy), Scott Broussard (Brandy), Robert Broussard (Mary Jane), Jared Broussard, Teryan Broussard (Kyla), Candice Dupree Crawford (Justin) and Ty Ellison.
She has 8 great-grandchildren, Ragan Dupree, Brighton Broussard, Logan Broussard, Elijah Broussard, Gavin Broussard, Isaac Broussard, Parker Crawford and Ella Crawford.
Doris loved getting together with her family and friends for holidays and birthday events. She will be loved and missed by all that knew her.
The family would like to thank Summerfield Assisted Living and Modern Hospice for taking such good care of our mother in her final days.
