The first McKneely Funeral Home was started by Winnie Strickland McKneely, on July 1, 1944, and turned over to Harry H. McKneely on October 1, 1970.
     
Susan K McKneely, daughter of Harry H. McKneely, is a third generation Funeral Director who literally grew up in a funeral home.  She has been associated with Harry McKneely and Son, Inc., Funeral Homes, since the early 1970's, and became the owner and operator in 1993.  She was named "Outstanding Funeral Director of the Year" for 1999 by the Southeast Louisiana Funeral Directors Association.
     
Her current memberships include the Hammond Chamber of Commerce, the International Order of the Golden Rule (where she holds the title of Past-President), the National Funeral Directors Association, the Louisiana Funeral Directors Association, and the Southeast Louisiana Funeral Directors Association.
     
In addition, she serves on the Boards of Directors of Southeastern University Development Foundation (currently serving as President), Professional Limousine Service, the Southeast Louisiana Funeral Directors Association (where she previously served as Governor) and the Florida Parishes Bank in Hammond.
